A Grammy- and Tony Award–winning producer, creative visionary, and industry connector at the intersection of music, theater, and film.
A born storyteller with roots in performance, Kurt brings an artist’s heart and a producer’s mind to every project. He launched his career as an actor—appearing in Broadway hits and acclaimed television roles—before transitioning to roles behind the scenes, where he’s become one of the most influential forces in contemporary musical theatre.
As the founder of Sh-K-Boom and Ghostlight Records, Kurt reshaped how Broadway is heard and preserved. He built the go-to labels for cast albums and solo projects, championing the work of groundbreaking composers and performers. He earned multiple Grammy Awards along the way, and his catalog has become the gold standard for original cast recordings, capturing more than 200 iconic scores.
As SVP at Warner Music Group (2017–2025), Kurt launched and led the company’s theatrical strategy, forging artist-first relationships with Lin-Manuel Miranda, Shaina Taub, Joe Iconis, Alan Menken, and more. His visionary approach bridged the gap between Broadway and the global music industry, helping artists and musicals find new audiences and platforms.
On stage and screen, Kurt’s producing credits feature daring new voices and global commercial successes, including The Notebook, Beetlejuice, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, American Utopia, Here Lies Love, Everyday Rapture, The Wrong Man, and Alice by Heart. From immersive storytelling to genre-defying spectacle, his work consistently pushes boundaries and connects with audiences.
